Presentation by Arsen Volsky: "The Epistemology of Mathematics Between Pragmatism and Empiricism."

Abstract
Traditional research in the epistemology of mathematics often assumes that mathematical statements possess an a priori nature and absolute certainty, that proofs in mathematics are beyond doubt, and that their criteria remain unchanged. The historical context of mathematical practices is thus ignored as irrelevant to epistemological analysis itself. In my presentation, I propose an alternative view of the epistemology of mathematics, one that brings it closer to the epistemology of the natural sciences and represents an intermediate position between empiricism and pragmatism.
